Discover the road that will lead to your best self

Welcome to MJC Psychotherapy Services. Our mission is to inspire lifelong change that does not take a lifetime to achieve.

We set to create change by unloading the negativity that unfairly weighs us down through modern modalities that encompass not just the brain but the entire mind, body and spirit.

Changing your life is possible… No matter the situation.

Beginning the road to therapy starts with a willingness and awareness in one’s life course. I would like to help you on this journey.  I strive to offer a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space, where you can share freely and honestly where you have been and where you would like to be.  I’m available by virtual therapy or in person at my centrally-located Montclair office. I look forward to the chance to talk with you and work together to help you move forward and find peace.

Let’s develop a plan.

I am committed to working with adults, adolescents, families and children utilizing a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities with a specialty in EMDR. I am attuned to each person’s personality and strengths, integrating the results of an individual assessment into a unique treatment plan and healing continuum. Clinical emphasis includes the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual and physical abuse, addictions, emotional regulation, phase- of-life issues and spirituality – all in a safe environment. Treatment orientation options include, but are not limited to EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral therapy, and Family Systems. I will work with you to develop a plan that meets your unique needs.

About Mary Culley.

The field of psychotherapy continues to evolve and I am dedicated to staying current in the unfolding modalities of top-down and bottom-up approaches. I am aware that there is no one-size-fits-all in the healing arts, so it is important for me to explore with each individual the best course of treatment. My goal is also to provide psychoeducation to help create the best therapeutic plan as a roadmap for each individual's healing journey.

I attended Fordham University where I received a Master’s in Social Work and soon after began my career working at a school-based agency, Care Plus NJ and Novo Psychological Services. I studied structural family therapy (SFT) primarily under Daniel Minuchin and later immersed myself in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) in order to help clients heal from their traumatic memories. The world of EMDR led me on a path to exploring neuroscience and the body/mind approach. As a certified EMDR therapist, I have treated hundreds of people with this approach and am currently in training with the Somatic Institute in Somatic Experience.

I am always in pursuit of the cutting-edge modalities that expedite the healing process. I empathize with people who want to move forward with their lives and unburden themselves of negative beliefs and fears - in some cases that have weighed on them for decades. I believe that we are here to learn from our challenges, which are in essence opportunities that allow us to grow consciously rather than stay in a cocoon with our fears that limit us because it may be easier or it just feels safer. When an individual is ready to take the step to live their life more fully, I am here to help.

“We can make ourselves miserable or we can makes ourselves strong. The amount of effort is the same.”
